The report “Experiences from oil spills at the Norwegian coast. A summary of environmental effects“ contains a brief description of the environmental monitoring carried out after the four largest oil spills from vessels in Norwegian waters over the past ten years: the “Rocknes” in 2004, the “Server” in 2007, the “Full City” in 2009 and the “Godafoss” in 2011.

e-navigation is a concept to support and improve decision-making through maritime information management. Norway has been entrusted by the International Maritime Organization to coordinate the work of developing a proposal for a strategic implementation plan for e-navigation in 2014.

The fee rates made valid by the Ministry of Fisheries and Coastal Affairs as of January 1, 2013, vary slightly from the fee rates proposed by the Norwegian Coastal Administration in December 2012.

With effect from January 1, 2013, there will be changes to the regulations relating to maritime traffic in specific waters. In general, the regulation applies to vessels with a maximum length of 24 meters or more and to vessels regardless of size when transporting particularly hazardous liquid and/or pollutive cargo in bulk.
